Roger's Reviews
Post Rookie Draft — initial reaction, no performance data
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office has completed its formal review of the Jack-Hammers' 2024 rookie draft class, and Roger is prepared to render a verdict.
One pick. Ryan Hamor — two-time champion, the only man in this league with multiple rings — strode to the podium in round four and selected Jacob Cowing at 4.12, three slots after consensus had him going. Not a reach that insults the room, not a steal that makes anyone spill their drink… just a quietly competent pick at the back end of the fourth, the kind of thing a man who already has two trophies does when he's not particularly stressed about it. The league office grades this a B-, which, for a one-pick class, is the draft equivalent of parallel parking on the first try — fine, unremarkable, and somehow still better than what some of these other franchises managed with five picks and a dream.
Whether Cowing becomes a contributor or a footnote, Roger cannot say — the league office does not have a crystal ball, only a mostly-empty glass of Blanton's. Draft grade: B-. Carry on, Hamor. The bar is on you.
Year-End Retrospective — with performance baked in
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office presents its official retrospective on the 2024 rookie draft class of Ryan Hamor's Jack-Hammers. Ryan — two-time champion, aggressive pick-shipper, man who treats draft capital like a bar tab he'll worry about tomorrow — walked into the 2024 rookie draft with a single fourth-round selection and came away with Jacob Cowing, a slot receiver who has thus far produced... nothing statistically reviewable by this office. To be fair, taking Cowing at 4.12 is a low-stakes dart throw, the fantasy equivalent of ordering well whiskey when you've already had four bourbons — fine, probably harmless, just don't expect anyone to be impressed. The league office grades this class a B-, which, given that there was exactly one pick and zero performance data to punish him with, is perhaps more charitable than Ryan deserves. Per Article 11, Section 6(c)(ii) of the Dynasty Rulebook, a two-time champion is held to a higher standard, and "one forgettable wideout at the back of round four" is not the legacy move this office expected.
