Roger's Reviews
Post Rookie Draft — initial reaction, no performance data
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office has reviewed the Red N' Mellow draft card, and Dan Pratt — a man with a 39% career win rate, let's not forget — has somehow managed to not completely embarrass this institution. Taking a consensus top-two prospect at pick 1.06 is the kind of move that makes Roger feel warm inside, or perhaps that's the old-fashioned, hard to say. The 3.10 selection is a genuine steal — 10 slots of pure value, which is frankly more surplus than Dan has generated in his entire fantasy career combined. However. That 4.10 pick is a 27-slot reach, and per Article 11, Section 3(f)(ii) of the league constitution, egregious over-drafting in the fourth round is considered a misdemeanor against the shield… and this one damn well qualifies. A B- feels right — Red N' Mellow did enough to avoid a full inquiry, but that last pick is going to haunt the league office's dreams, and Roger has enough haunting him already.
Year-End Retrospective — with performance baked in
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office has completed its formal review of the Red N' Mellow 2023 rookie draft class, and the verdict is… fine. Just fine. A B-minus. Not a ringing endorsement, Dan, but not the dumpster fire your career win rate would suggest you're capable of producing.
Tank Dell is your best pick out of this class — composite 80, quietly outperforming his draft slot, which is more than Roger can say for most of what Dan has touched. C.J. Stroud at 1.06 looks like the flashy headline pick, but a composite of 78 on a near-top-10 selection is the fantasy equivalent of ordering the wagyu and getting an Applebee's sirloin.
And then there is DeWayne McBride — a composite of 30, no performance score on record, drafted at 4.10 like Dan wandered into round four and just… pointed. Per Article 11, Section 3(d), the league office formally classifies this pick as a wellness check rather than a personnel decision. Dan, the bar was on the floor, and you still managed to trip over it.
