Roger's Reviews
Post Rookie Draft — initial reaction, no performance data
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office has concluded its review of the Show Me Your TDS 2025 rookie draft class — and Roger has... complicated feelings, which the third old-fashioned is not helping to untangle.
Pick 1.10 is essentially where consensus had it, one slot of drift, fine, respectable, the kind of efficient capital allocation that makes Roger feel things are under control. Pick 4.10, however — consensus rank 62, taken at slot 46 — that is a sixteen-slot reach in the fourth round, which is the fantasy equivalent of leaving a perfectly good manhattan on the bar to order something with an umbrella in it. Tyler already has the ring, he already has the league's best career win rate, and this is how he spends a late pick? Reaching sixteen spots for a guy who may or may not make a 53-man roster?
Overall: B-. The steal at 1.10 is fine. The reach at 4.10 is the kind of move that looks either brilliant or catastrophic, and Roger isn't sober enough right now to tell you which... what was the question?
Year-End Retrospective — with performance baked in
Ladies and gentlemen, the league office has completed its formal post-mortem of the 2025 rookie draft class belonging to Tyler Sunstrom — reigning champion, insufferable Vikings fan, and apparently a man who peaked in Round 1.
Matthew Golden stands as the crown jewel of this class: a B-grade haul at 1.10 that at least held up respectably when it counted. Tahj Brooks, meanwhile, is the kind of pick that makes Roger question whether the scouting department was also four old-fashioneds deep — a C-minus, drafted with optimism, and producing with all the urgency of a man waiting for a bus that already left.
A composite of 53.54 — a C+ — is fine, technically, the way a participation ribbon is fine. For a man who won the whole damn thing in 2025, you'd hope the rookie class would do slightly more than pass a low bar. On further review, Tyler, the shield expects better… hic …and so does Roger.
